About Current.
460 mm square in plan. The back rises in a single steam-bent arc to 830 mm — no crest rail laid across the top, because the arc is the back. The profile stays thin the whole way up.
The narrow footprint carries further than it sounds. Eight around a 2000 mm table without the chairs touching. Six around 1600 mm.
Solid ash throughout, walnut finish as shown, the open grain legible beneath the polish and deepening over the first years. Seat pads to order. Held in stock.
Questions
What is steam-bending?
The ash is held in steam until the fibres soften, clamped around a former and left to dry in the new shape. The grain follows the bend rather than being cut across it, so the piece stays strong where it is thinnest.
