About Swell.
Most sofas hide the frame. Swell shows it. One looped run of steam-bent ash leaves the floor as a sled base, rises into the arm, carries the length of the back and returns. The cushions sit inside the loop rather than on a concealed box.
2400 mm long, 1100 mm deep, 770 mm to the top of the back. A three-seater with the depth to sit into. Every element is solid ash rather than veneered board, and the sled spreads load rather than concentrating it on four points.
Bone leather over a walnut-finished frame, cushions deep. Drawn also in amber. In stock, or made to your room.
Questions
How much wall does Swell need?
2400 mm of clear run and a little at each end so the arms are not pinched. Below about 3.5 m of room width it dominates; Cove or a pair of Heron chairs suits better.
Can Swell be made shorter?
The frame is redrawn to length as a made-to-order piece. The proportions of the loop change with the span, so it is worked against the room.
